I was so upset when I found out about this trend! Mainly because I had been working out for months and because I refuse to weigh myself, I go by my clothing size. I was giddy when I finally went from 10 to 8. But then I found out it wasn't my hard work at all. It was the stupid retailers messing up my scale! I almost gave up, but it feels so good to work out that I've decided that God just must want me to be a size 10 no matter how how many times I visit the gym and step up my workout. I just hope I'm not doomed to poor cholesterol and high blood pressure, too, otherwise I might be tempted to throw out my legumes, oatmeal, and wheat pasta.
I just bought a wedding dress... in a size six! generally I'm a two, so the size threw me for a loop. then the nice lady explained to me that wedding dress sizes are very different from department store sizes, and can vary greatly from designer to designer. what a pain in the arse.
why do they make it so difficult to just find something that fits?!
What a pain now to order anything online or from a catalog - how do I know if I'm a size 6 or 16?!
Yeah the wedding dress/bridesmaid dress scenario is particularly crazy. Why are those designers the only ones still abiding by the sizes that took into account corsests and assume we're still wearing our pants around our waist?
I noticed this phenomenon too at White House Black Market. I was shopping for a dress to wear to my friend's wedding and I tried on my usual size and it was way too big. The cashier lady mentioned casually that their sizes ran a bit big but didnt go into any detail. You would think they would do some big public service announcement right?
