You have reached Franziska von Karma. Leave your name, number and a succinct message, and I will get back to you shortly. Do not waste my time with pointless fooleries.
Would you happen to know where I might find an archive of past criminal activity? Ideally before the Newcomers started arriving. I thought I'd try the library, but I'm not sure they'll have the information I'm looking for.
That sort of information usually isn't freely distributed to the public -- it would depend for what purposes you wanted to know. Have you tried old newspapers?
I expected that might be the case. It's just - well you surely must know about the Anti Newcomer group, M.A.N. Mothers Against Newcomers? I wanted to speak to them, to maybe help them see that not every Newcomer is like the kind they fear and distrust. But I wanted to be able to back up my words with a solid defense.
I was hoping to find some evidence of activity that didn't involve Newcomers, that way I could easily counter an argument that Newcomers were the only ones responsible for bringing trouble. With AGI and SERO the way they are, I can't believe this city has been relatively peaceful until now.
To be frank, the quest you're currently embarking on is a difficult one -- but yes, I do believe you should be able to find some evidence of criminal activities prior to the arrival of newcomers in this place if you were to check the newspaper archives. It will most likely take far more convincing than that, however -- we newcomers are a new threat, and are thus a very convenient scapegoat to use for all their troubles.
Personally, I think we're the cause of quite a few of them, at the very least.
I know it's a difficult one - maybe even impossible. But I can't just sit back and do nothing while the locals get angrier and angrier, and just us all as one lump group.
I hate to say it, but I'm inclined to agree, but - I'd rather think that the majority of us aren't. It just so happens that the ones who are the cause of this city's problems do so on such a large scale that it's easy to overlook the ones that do good for the city.
There's been so much damage already, it may be a fool's errand to even speak to people like this. Do you think it a wasted effort?
Yeah, I just... don't want to be one of those people who says that they want things to change, but they don't make any actual effort. And I definitely don't want to be one of those people who thinks the only way to change things, is through violence.
No. Certainly not the only way. [But a useful one.] Well. I'll commend you for trying, at the very least. Even if nothing changes, at least you know you made the effort.
