So I was reading Meeka's entry about feeling really grown up and I got to wondering how many of you have the same sort of views that I have on drugs and sex and things. It would be nice if lots of people took my poll :D (Also I just figured out that I can make polls)

I answered all the questions except for the sex one. I really have no problem with teenagers having sex (though the idea of younger teenagers, like 13 year olds, is kind of squicky), but I don't think that I should answer "It's normal." For some people, age 16 is all right. For other, age 20. Etc, etc.

I really don't even think that people who have to be in a relationship, because even though I can't imagine casual sex for myself and the idea of a sexual relationship without feelings, if that's what somebody else wants it's their decision. As long as everything is consensual and safe, I've got no problem with it.

That said, I just realized I have very liberal views for somebody who's never done any of these things. I've never had more than a couple sips of alcohal, never even seen drugs, and never had sex, but I have no problem with any of these things for other people. (Except hard drugs like cocaine; I really don't have a problem with pot, though).

Okay, I ramble too much ...

I think I agree with you on most things, I wish I could figure out how to edit polls so I can add somethings in. Definetly agree that sex should vary per-person, although I'm a bit of a romantic so the first time should be because you're in love :P

I think the Liberalness is a Canadian thing.

I definitely want all the sex in my life to be because of love, but I don't have a problem if other people do it just for enjoyment.

Just thought I'd elaborate on the sex one. I think it's a person's choice whether they want to have sex or not. Obviously I'm not going to think it's OK for a 13-year-old to have sex, but otherwise if a person's going to have sex I'm not going to have an opinion on it. As for me, I don't plan on having it for a VERY long time, and I'm hoping to hold out until marriage.

I believe in waiting for both reasons, but religion is definitely a big factor.

Oh, and refering to my above comment, I meant that if a person feels mature enough and loves someone and they want to have sex that's not a problem with me, but it's just not for me. Sorry, I suck at clarity today.

Re: the sex thing. Somewhere between 16 and 20 something seems like the age when it starts being... not a bad idea to have sex, though obviously everyone's different/will be ready at different times.

Drugs: Just try not to get hurt or hurt someone else.
Alcohol: I like hard liquor, only have it when an adult is around, never drink enough to throw up. Got buzzed twice, once from trying to do all four Pasech cups using real wine, once cause the bartender put too much Vodka in my white Russian. *shrugs*
Sex: Depends on the person. I've met people who I think can handle sex at 15, and people who shouldn't be having sex ever. All depends on the person.

Drugs: I was mostly just refering to smoking weed at like a party nothing really awful like heroine.
Alcohol: Hee I am very much amused that you got tipsy over religious things, it's like practically an oxymoron in my mind. Also are White Russians really good? Isn't it milk and Vodka? That combination sounds icky.
Sex:Definetly agree, I wish I could edit the poll to put that in.
Rock: Rock on! Man I'm lame :D

Drugs: Having done a 7 page paper on weed, after having read a scientific one entitled "Pharmcokinetics and Pharmcodynamics of Cannabinoids", for my substance abuse treatment class, I know far too much about weed to use it. Doesn't help that I've got a total pothead as a sib.
Alcohol: Guys get drunk at religious things all the time. Just stand outside any Lubavitch event, or any religous event on Purim. I think White Russians taste a bit like candy honestly. Sweet, a little bit thick, and the milk and liquor help balance the bitterness of Vodka. It's actually a little like a Starbucks White Mocha. (My fave Starbucks drink actually.)

Drugs: A lot of my friends do weed when they party, and frankly, I don't think there's anything totally wrong with it. None of them have gotten hurt, and none of them were pressured into doing it/pressured anyone else. The only I'm really worried about is the amount of lying and covering up their doing to hide from their parents, but hey, it's their life.

Sex: I don't want to say 16-ish is 'normal', but it happens. As long as they're being responsible about it and using condoms/the Pill, right? Personally, I don't want to have sex until I'm in a long-term relationship, which obviously wouldn't be now, so. Yes.

I didn't mean normal exactly, just that if someone who is 16 tells me they've had sex I wouldn't think it was icky, where as if someone who was 13 told me they had I would. Versus some people who think its icky for 16 year olds to be having sex. Obviously it depends on the the people involved.
