Whenever I've gotten red highlights, they always look very bright the first little while. This is because red dye fades, so they tend to over-compensate.

My stylist told me that if the red was too bright, to rinse your hair in vinegar. It smells horrible, but it works.

I don't know, considering you don't have just red-- right? If the dye you used was straight red, I don't see how it would affect your natural hair. If there's brown in there too-- *shrugs*. Maybe google "vinegar hair dye" or something to see if anyone's mentioned any problems?

You could always try putting henna over it. That could have a cool effect, really, and you'd end up with a reddish looking hair. You should check out this website. http://www.hennaforhair.com/

Otherwise, I'd go to the salon and ask them for advice. They might be able to do a professional dye over it or give you some advice on what to do. I don't usually dye my hair (I did pink streaks this summer, and have had highlights and lowlights before), so I can't help much. Sorry.
