Two days later, he said that he does check email, and that he dictates replies to his wife, but it seems that he had been trying to reach out to the older people who don't understand why we need all this internet stuff.
There is plenty of tech available to help people with physical limitations use computers. He chose not to learn, or at least claimed not to have learned.
It drives me mad how all sides are screaming "Omigod racist/sexist/ageist/ableist!!!" whenever any candidate or their supporters call another candidate on something.

No President directly uses email, or should. There are record keeping reasons for this (every communication a President has is monitored), but there are also mere sanity reasons for this (like those spam I mentioned). Presidents have staff who read the emails, and print out the ones that the President will actually see (no need for the President to be pinned down to a computer).
McCain reads email with his wife, he gets BlackBerry info via some of his aids. He is highly electronically connected. Anyone who bothers to do any research on this can figure it out in about 5 minutes.
That main reason why he doesn't do more with email is because of the injuries done to him by the NVA.
So, hell yes, Obama's ad is making fun of McCain for his injuries.
If the dickheads running the Obama campaign did not realize that, then they are incompetent idiots, and should be kept away from power.
