What if life starts at 4 weeks (first "brain" activity)? Or when the ultrasound first "looks human"? It's not just "conception or nothing."

But good luck finding people willing to have that discussion with you.

well, then we have the various compromises of things like no abortion after week x (such as the many bans of third trimester abortion). The point is that one extreme believes that life begins at conception, another extreme believes it starts at birth. The middle ground there is quite murky.

I know, I find that most do not want to sit down and really learn about their own basic beliefs and what implications those might have.

My experience has been that the lack of the latter disproves the former. In particular, the abortion issue has become a shouting match between two sets of religious extremists, neither of which is willing to grant humanity to the other side.
