According to the Huffington Post,
Sarah Palin will be on SNL tonight. My prediction: SNL will get the best ratings they've gotten this decade.
Neilson reported
these numbers for viewership of the debates:
Debate
Viewership
Presidential Debate, Friday 9/26
52 Million People
Presidential Debate, Tuesday 10/7
63 Million People
Presidential Debate, Wednesday 10/15
57 Million People
Vice Presidential Debate, Thursday 10/2
70 Million People
John McCain was on
Letterman Thursday. The Thursday night telecast was seen by 6.5 million viewers, and received a 1.7 rating in the adult demo. That's the largest audience for the show since December, 2005, when Oprah Winfrey appeared. "Late Show" also topped Jay Leno's "Tonight Show" (4.6 million viewers) by 43%, and Leno had Joe Biden as a guest.
So people found the VP debate more interesting that the Presidential Debates, but find McCain more interesting than Biden (and if that's not a "race to the bottom", I don't know what is :-) ). The conclusion is that Sarah's the draw.
