Assuming the same Paypal address can be used for straight donations? I have most of the books you're offering already and am not sure I'm going to try to kickstart my writing career.
This is the fastest way to raise money. You want to take him in to the vet ASAP. I've been there with dog eye problems, and they do not wait. Get him treatment now.

Thank you! Unfortunately vets in this country want cash up front, and weekend emergency clinics are extremely expensive. Just walking the door will cost more than the $30 I have in the bank today. Tomorrow, I hope, the first of yesterday's transfers will show up. Then we'll get rolling.

Open a crowd-funding anyway. David Gerrold was able to raise 5 figures to pay for his son's operation. There are fans who are happy to help you with your poor dog as they have helped with mine. Pimp it on Facebook and we'll get the word out with a link.
There's also Care Credit. You have 6 months interest-free to pay off the bill. After that the high interest kicks in, but it's good for emergencies.
I have been through this and found the people who buy the books already have their copies, and those who have writing to critique are few in number and often broke.
This opens things to a wider audience. Five bucks here and there adds up fast for your pooch.
IndieGoGo gives you immediate access to the funds as they come in and you don't have to reach a funding goal first (like with Kickstarter).
You can certainly offer thank you gifts like signed books to upper level donations. A signed bookmark is treasure to a fan! <3

Thank you so much! I will ponder. I've done Kickstarters, where it takes weeks to pay. Indiegogo uses Paypal, so more like days, but it's still not instant. So I'd be waiting another day or two anyway.
Will hopefully get him in at vet tomorrow. Definitely in the next couple of days.
As for crits and books, yes, that's been my experience. I expected to get a couple of edits and a half-dozen ebook sales. Hoped for enough to get him in for the first visit. The response, instead, has blown me away. LOTS of new readers wanting books. As you said--it adds up.
