It could even be they wanted people on worse termsand condititions or in a couple of months you may have earned some sort of employment right that may have cost them money. It will be for some impersonal statistical bean counting reason so don't lose heart.

I agree, it was possibly because they'd have had to offer you something other than a temp contract. Or if it was through an agency, BAA might have decided that they can only hold temps for so long through it before they have to offer you a real position from BAA. Or at least, that's how it worked with BT. If you were on a temporary contract within the agency, after six months you could get a BT contract, which meant more pay and more benefits for exactly the same job.

I doubt it had anything to do with personality, because I would speculate (having never seen you at work) that you'd be more professional than to let your personality shine through. That and you're competent and, like you say, hadn't been off for a while.
