The feeling of forests.

On Wednesday I went back to my favourite place in the Marysville state forest for the first time since the fire. The start of the journey was intensely painful and rage inducing. Near the start of the road there is a picnic ground that now overlooks a many hectares of grassy paddock, where lush forest once stood. It's the result of the 'Salvage ( Read more... )

Yep, your picture is about right, but since the road is in a valley the forest slopes up on either side of you. The other thing that amazed me was seeing rock outcroppings I'd not know where there, and noticing how steep the mountains sides are.

That pic is Wallaby Creek Catchment area. One of the amazing things is being able to see the shapes of the mountain through the cleared undergrowth.
