I find book banning more than a little scary and bordering on dangerous.
I suspect you are right, the kids who would benefit from a book like this won't be able to read it.
There you are, a prime example of one of my pet hates. I wonder why you didn't notice it until now? I don't know how it is with you, but I find here capital letters generally are being 'driven out' as they can be found to be upsetting and threatening.
I find book banning a lot scary. And it’s been rampant here for a few years … narrow minded people trying to force their narrow mindedness on everyone else.
I don’t know why I hadn’t noticed the capitalization thing. Maybe I pay more attention to the art on covers than the words? I still feel a pang of disappointment about how cute the cover of Duck Duck Danger was and how bad the writing was.
And now that you mention it … there’s a politician here who is well known for his weaponization of capitalization in his social media posts. But he’s someone who I try to avoid thinking about.
So I'd heard. Sadly, it doesn't just apply to books these days :-(
Actually, I would think most people pay more attention to the art on the book cover - which makes a lot of sense as that is what will draw a lot of people in. I don't believe I've seen the cover of Duck Duck Danger nor read it. But I it is a shame when a book isn't anywhere near as good as its gorgeous cover.
Unfortunately, I don't just mean words that are entirely capitalised; I mean a single capital at the beginning of sentences or for names, etc. :-(
Actually, you did see the cover of Duck Duck Danger, not that I’d expect you to remember. The book was only memorable for its cute cover and awful writing. 🙂
And the politician I mentioned is well known, not just for capitalizing entire words, but from totally random capitalization throughout his posts. But he’s well known for many cringy things ….
