I honestly cannot believe how amazing out seats were for the price, especially considering we didn't day ticket!
I've heard brilliant things about the reverse casting so I am very excited. Although the casting I saw was fantastic anyway.
And yes I really feel for Benedict, despite being an actor for quite some time it does seem like he's not used to these fangirls/boys following him around. I know someone who stagedoored for him at the end of After the Dance just after the first episode of Sherlock had aired so he didn't have the huge fan following he does now at that point, and he was actually surprised to see people waiting especially for him. I hope he doesn't judge us all on the actions of few :(
I live in Valencia (Spain) and even if I knew I couldn't afford it I checked to see the prices online and in the official site it was sold out (and in other places it was 80 to 150 pounds) so aince there weren't tickets it'd have been very expensive to buy the other ones. I wondered if going to buy them the same day of the play was possible but I figured they had to be sold out anyway.. do you know about that? when did you buy yours?
I went to the NT once many years ago and I loved the place.. One summer when I was working in London I bought a ticket in advance to watch Look Back in Anger and it was also a really good price (and I was pretty close). Back then Michael Sheen wasn't famous abroad since he hadn't made Underworld yet but I admired him from smaller roles like Wilde's and watching him live was totally amazing.. besides, I knew that play from the University and the production was fantastic.
The run did completely sell out yes, I got my tickets in advance and paid £12 for 3rd row - and I have no idea how I managed that. It was possible to get tickets on the day of the show, as they saved the first 2 rows to sell on the day from the box office, but you would have to queue up before the box office opened and I hear some people were there from like 3am, and others actually slept on the street :/
However NTLive broadcast the show, with both castings, to cinemas all over the world, that's why I was asking if there were any near you?
Great review. I think I'm torn on the whole thing the more I think about it. But it's not on the actors, or the direction or the set (I WANT THAT TRAIN. NOW. I DON'T CARE IF IT WAS POINTLESS. I WANT IT NOW. IN MY FRONT LAWN.), but with the writing itself
