Kangin closed the door quietly, not wanting to wake the other members up. The tranquility of the silent night contrasted with his emotions. His heart felt heavy, burdened with guilt.
No strings attached, right Minnie?
This was Kangin, impulsive and hot headed. He was someone that speaks before realizing what he just said, someone who naturally didn’t think about consequences. This was no different. Their activities have been going on for a couple of months now, yet those same words continued their plague on his conscience.
No strings attached, right Minnie?
Kangin remembered every single word. Bold. Straight to the point. Nothing flowery, nothing decorative. Blunt. Harsh.
Straight to the point.
This was Kangin, someone who gets things straight to the point. Except Sungmin wasn’t like that. He was soft, quiet, even timid when he was with the members. Not exactly the best way to treat someone like that by being bold and blunt, especially when it comes to love.
I’m warning you right now, I won’t like you, okay?
Yes hyung, I’m okay.
Nothing more, nothing less.
Kangin’s stomach lurched uncomfortably and Kangin knew it wasn’t because of Kyuhyun’s stew for dinner. Kangin didn’t think he would fall for Sungmin, he always thought he was interested in girls. But Minnie eventually changed him. Unconsciously Kangin began falling for Sungmin bit by bit. The feeling was beyond what he felt whenever he saw a pretty girl.
Even though the feeling was foreign, Kangin knew what it was. He had heard enough of it from Ryeowook drabbling on and on about Yesung. Kangin was in love with Sungmin.
Yet now, the line’s been drawn, the pieces been set, the rules of the game been established. What could he possibly do? Kangin threw himself onto his bed and drifted off to sleep as Donghae mumbled incoherently about aliens in his bed.
No strings attached.
~Next day~
“Good morning hyung.” Ryeowook chirped cheerfully as Kangin groggily trudged into the kitchen, the faint smells of friend egg wafting into his nose.
“Mmm...” Kangin rubbed his eye sleepily and took a seat. Hardly anyone was in their dorm. Eeteuk, Heechul and Hankyung had a schedule early in the morning. The rest of them, Donghae, Eunhyuk, Yesung and Kyuhyun and them were probably off fluttering around the city having fun.
“Good morning hyung.” Sungmin spoke softly as he took a seat
“Well I’m gone. Bye bye.” Ryeowook fluttered out of the kitchen and into his room after he cleaned the dishes, “You can just leave them in the sink when you’re finished!!”
Kangin and Sungmin were alone together in the kitchen, eating their breakfast slowly, the awkwardness thick and dense. The only sounds were the soft bangs of their cutlery onto their plates. Neither spoke a word.
“Sungmin ah...”
“Yes hyung?” Sungmin looked up from his plate, his eyes puffy and red. His lips curved into a forced smile.
“Hyung... doesn’t know how to say this... but...”
“Just say it, I remember. No strings attached.” Sungmin looked back down at his plate. Read his mind before Kangin even knew how to articulate himself, this was why Kangin was sure he had a special connection with Sungmin.
“Sungmin ah.” Kangin reached forward and held his chin in his hand, forcing the younger boy to look into his eyes, “I... I just want to apologize.”
“It’s okay hyung...” Sungmin’s eyes began tearing up, the water welling in his eyes, “I understand if you want to stop.”
“You’re right; I do want to stop this,” Kangin spoke forcefully as he let go of Sungmin’s chin. “Because you’re worth more than this.”
“Hyung...?”
Nothing said to anyone about this, not even Kyuhyun.
Yes hyung.
“You’re worth more than a nightly fuck. You’re worth more than someone who merely uses you. You’re worth more than someone who isn’t considerate all the time. You deserve someone to pamper you with whatever you want. You deserve someone that’ll give you all his attention. You deserve more than this Sungmin.” Kangin got up from his chair and walked behind the smaller boy.
“Hyung...” Sungmin’s bottom lip quivered as he looked at Kangin, “I’m confused hyung.”
“And so am I, Minnie...” Kangin ruffled his Minnie’s bed hair softly, instantly feeling the younger boy tense up. “But I have a question.”
Will you let me be this person that will give you more?
Kangin reached down and pulled Sungmin into a kiss. His lip soft and sweet contrasted Kangin’s dry chapped lips. Almost instantly Sungmin pulled away.
“Hyung...” Sungmin began weeping as his body relaxed. His question communicated across beautifully and the answer was even more beautiful.
“Shhhh....” Kangin grabbed his Minnie and kissed him again, silencing the younger boy’s muffled moans. “No more hyung.”
Nothing but love, right Minnie?
