~*~*~ 3 days later *~*~*
Things finally settled down a bit.
Yuri had to stay in the hospital for a few days for a further check up as she began experiencing minor symptoms, vomiting and dizziness, of cyanide poisoning. Sunny needed anesthetics to keep her emotionally stable.
News spread faster then a wildfire about Shindong and Seohyun’s untimely death. Text messages kept flying into their phones, their phones ringing and vibrating endlessly.
Hankyung got so annoyed he turned off his phone and threw the battery away. The managers had ordered them to move out of their dorm and into another flat. They were permitted to go back in temporarily to collect their basic necessities.
Sungmin held onto the ears of his pink bunny doll as he walked out of their home. His other hand tugged along a suitcase as the door closed behind their steps. Bittersweet as it was leaving their dorm they had been living at for the past two years, the nine of them stood in silence, shedding silent tears, muffling silent cries. In a way, silence was tranquility.
“Guess this isn’t so bad.” Donghae chirped, pretending to be happy to lift everyone’s mood. He threw his suitcase on one of the beds as it plopped up and down on the spring, regreting his foolish attempt.
“I’m going to go out.” Siwon said briefly as he took a key card from the pile and headed for the door.
“Siwon ah, I’ll go with you.” Ryeowook offered as he sat up from his bed.
“No I want to be alone.” Siwon coldly rejected his offer as his hands gestured Ryeowook away. He slung his jacket casually on his shoulder as he closed the door behind him.
“We’re all tired and upset. Let’s just take it easy you guys.” Sungmin’s voice came from under his blanket as he cuddled with his bunny. “Shindong wouldn’t want us to be mad at each other.”
Everyone’s expression softened at the mention of Shindong, the happy dancer that always cracked a joke that made everyone laugh, unlike Yesung’s jokes which no one understood.
Faint sobs came from Donghae’s bed as the group fell into another wave of silence. Sungmin began sobbing, followed by Kyuhyun and Ryeowook. All of them began crying softly to themselves as no one spoke a word. Silence was tranquility.
People said a picture was worth a thousand words. Indeed it was. Words could not illustrate the sadness inside the room. The faint sobs echoed together in harmony.
~*~*~*An hour later~*~*~*
Siwon zipped up his jacket as he strolled along the street. His scarf covered up half his face to protect his skin from the cold.
His eyes trailed loosely along the rows of signs; the bright neon lights ran down the street advertising restaurants and commercials.
Siwon had no idea how long he had been walking by himself. He felt his leg muscles tighten and tingle with pain as he felt cramps, the soles of his feet were aching but he continued walking down the street. The pain he felt right now was nothing compared to them. Leeteuk, Heechul, Kangin, Shidong. His pain didn’t even constitute a fraction of what they had to go through.
People would turn around and point fingers at him but he did not care. People would definitely recognize him, take pictures of him and within hours they would be posted up on cyberspace and shared amongst even more people. Their managers would get mad and tell them to lay low and minimize their carelessness. Cause and effect, the very basis to life. One thing leads to a chain of other things, consequences lurking at each end, buried and waiting to pounce on the unfortunate.
Nothing else mattered. Leeteuk, Heechul, Kangin, Shidong. They were all gone. A tear escaped his eye, the moisture on his pale skin making it sting at his cold skin.
Siwon wasn’t going to give a shit about what their managers would say or how they would bitch at him for being in public without covering up. Siwon stopped at the smell before he turned his head, his neck cracking after holding it in the same position for hours.
The warm smell of ramen drifted into his nose as he pressed himself against the window of a ramen stall. The old chef threw up a pan of noodles in the air and caught it with the net. The pot of boiling water had another scoop of ramen waiting to be tossed as the man shook the noodles with the chopsticks and tossed them in the bowl before he poured
Siwon pushed open the door and was immediately greeted by a young teenage boy, who was flapping his arms at the celebrity. The old lady, likely his grandma, brought out a cup of hot tea for Siwon as he sat down on the flimsy chair.
The family had a warm chat with Siwon as the boy put a closed sign on the door. Siwon found himself taking tissue after tissue as the warm family listened to his troubles, his frustrations that he had bottled in for the longest time.
~*~*~*~ Meanwhile *~*~*~*~*~
Ryeowook got up from his bed and walked into the kitchen. He opened each cabinent and drawer, his ears not used to the sounds as they slid open.
The apartment had been loosely, and carelessly for that matter, supplied with food. Food Ryeowook would never eat, let alone cook, as he stared at a can of spam. He went over to the fridge and opened it, not the faintest trace of fresh fruits or vegetables. He picked up a bottle of coconut oil and winced. There was no way he would use coconut oil in their cooking. Six years and their company did not even know their habits.
“Wookie ah.” A familiar voice whispered softly as Ryeowook looked up at the figure.
“Hyung.” Ryeowook smiled faintly as he placed the bottle of unopened oil back on the counter.
“You look troubled.” Yesung squeezed his neck muscles as Ryeowook relaxed a bit.
“We can’t eat this…” Ryeowook flicked his head over at the kitchen.
He picked up a key card and the pair left for the supermarket two streets away.
~*~*~*~* Meanwhile ~*~*~*~*~*~
Kibum plunged himself head first into his pillow, the darkness looked almost inviting as he closed his eyes.
Someone here is the killer.
Kibum snapped open his eyes when he heard noises as he looked over to the direction of the sounds. Yesung was helping Ryeowook put on his jacket by the door as the eternal magnae placed a finger on his lips as if telling him to be quiet and that things were all fine. Yesung had an icy expression on his face as his eyes looked down at the smaller boy.
He let himself fall back onto his pillow as the soft cotton brushed against his cheek. His blood ran cold at the fact that this person could just kill another human being.
Ice. It had to be someone who had access to our house, how else could the person have injected the poison…
Kibum felt like throwing up when his conscious told him that one of his brothers could be the person behind all of this. They were more then just another one of those boybands. They were family. No matter what the bottom line is, they are still a family.
Kibum hated himself as he stared long and hard at Eunhyuk, who was constantly shifting awkwardly in his bed. Something about him just seemed wrong.
~*~*~*~ Meanwhile *~*~*~*~
Eunhyuk fidgeted uncomfortably on his bed, the thoughts inside his head overtaking his conscious. Everything was a mess. His whole world was crashing down. Everything that meant the world to him came crashing down the moment they found Leeteuk hyung. Then Heechul hyung and Kangin hyung. Things just kept on fucking up.
Donghae had looked so sad and he felt so useless that he couldn’t even help the man he loved. Even now Donghae’s sadness still radiated from his gaze as much as he tried covering it up with his goofiness.
Eunhyuk’s heart cringed at the mere thought of his Donghae.
But you will hate me… because I lied to you.
Eunhyuk looked down at the plain beige bed sheet, the thin treads treading a pattern on the fabric. A tear fell from his face and turned the fabric a darker shade of brown as it absorbed the moisture.
Would you still hold me like before if you knew my shame… I don’t deserve you, Hae..
In the midst of all this chaos, Eunhyuk had thought that love was a concept too abstract to be explored, especially love between two boys. He’d thrown it into the back of his mind. He thought he was doing them both a favour. He had tried keeping his feelings for his friend down, but it just wouldn’t go away. Eunhyuk remembered those exact words.
“I used to like you, but not anymore.”
It was during the filming of their drama and they had to work with Leeteuk and Kangin hyung.
Eunhyuk gulped at the mere mentioning of their names. They were gone now. Nothing more except a relic of the past, memories, scattered memories within their brain. Nothing.
It felt like it was still yesterday when Donghae had had a rather violent reaction as he barked in horror. Afraid for their friendship, Eunhyuk had lied to Donghae. He was still very much in love with the boy. He just didn’t want to lose his friend.
Hae I still love you. I can never tell you… But am I doing the right thing?
