~*~*~*~ Early Morning *~*~*~*~
“Yesung hyung?” Sungmin knocked politely on his room, he opened the door slightly to see Ryeowook peaceful in his sleep.
“Mmm.” Yesung merely acknowledged Sungmin’s presence as he closed the door slightly, not wanting to disrupt Ryeowook of his much needed rest.
“Can I…” Sungmin had trouble finding his words, his coherency reduced to a dribbling mess seeing Yesung. Normally things were great between the two, Sungmin could easily talk to Yesung for hours about random aspects to their lives, but today was just different. His gut throbbed with guilt seeing the dark circles under his hyung’s eyes, the after effects of no sleep.
“Talk with me?” Yesung saw Sungmin’s stuttering and finished his sentence for him. “Let’s go outside, I do not want to wake up Wookie.”
Sungmin merely nodded as he left the room quickly, for some reason every pore on his skin felt sticky and uncomfortable in his room. Yesung slipped out of his bed and shuffled his feet in his turtle slippers.
“Hyung…” Sungmin began once they sat down at the coffee table, Yesung still mixing his coffee with his spoon as he swirled it in circles.
“I know why you’re here Sungmin.” Sungmin froze at his name. Yesung had always called him Minnie, whether it was on or off camera.
“Did Kangin tell you to come see me because he has no face left?” Yesung took a sip of his coffee before he put it down with a clang, his tongue sticking out as he flapped his arms to cool it off. Likely he had burned himself with the boiling drink.
“No hyung, I came to my own accord. It was the proper thing to do.” Sungmin said softly, his vision already blurring with tears, but he thought he saw Yesung smile.
“Why are you here anyways?” Yesung gently took another sip of his coffee, “what wind blew you here.”
“Sungie hyung…” Sungmin called out before Yesung silenced him.
“Don’t call me that. I’m not that close with you.” Yesung had a cold emotionless stare on his face, “anyways why are you here anyways.”
“Hyung…” Sungmin had strings of sentences to tell him, but the moment he laid eyes on the older boy his mouth opened loosely, the words meshing together. His apologies, his reasons, his actions, his declarations, everything fused together as Sungmin could only utter, “I’m sorry.”
“It’s okay Sungmin.” Yesung gave him the same expressionless smile, “I knew it was coming. After all you guys had been going at it for how long? 3 months?”
“Hyung.” Sungmin realized that Yesung was not as clueless as he appeared on camera. “Sungie hyung… please it’s not what you think…”
“Yesung is fine. Sungmin ah. It’s exactly what I think.” Yesung folded his arms and sighed loudly.
“Please hyung, forgive Kangin hyung…” Sungmin had tears streaming down his cheek, “It’s my fault, I… I offered myself to him.”
“Sungmin ah, you can stop lying now.” Yesung ripped his mask right off his face, leaving him bare and exposed.
“Hy… hyung, what… what are you….” Sungmin stuttered and slurred his words, “what are you talking about.”
“You can stop lying now Minnie.” Yesung started crying as he clutched the handle of his mug. “I know exactly what’s going on.”
“Hyung no, it was me. I was playing with him.” Sungmin blurted out as he slammed the table with his hands.
“Minnie you’re not a very good liar.” Yesung wiped the corner of his eye, the clear teardrop glistening on his fingers.
Sungmin realized his lies were futile as he cried harder.
“Minnie I don’t hate you for this.” Yesung twirled strands of his hair before letting it go, naturally it spiraled together, “in a way I should thank you.”
Sungmin blinked a few times. Another tear rolled down his cheek.
“Youngwoon… he’s a great guy and all.” Yesung began softly, everything he had bottled up since he had been in a relationship with Kangin, as he told Sungmin all his troubles, “but he’s just… different from before.”
Sungmin gulped as Yesung continued his monologue. His tears had dried up as he hugged his own shoulders as if he was feeling Yesung’s pain.
“It was nice at first, he was really caring and everything. Supportive and loving… but after a while things just changed. He was still a great guy and all, but I think I changed. I needed something more, something he couldn’t necessarily give me.”
“You know what they say about your first love is like puppy love, it’s just being all lovey dovey and sweet to each other. I thought that was just a lie and that maybe, just maybe he was the one meant for me.”
“But I was wrong. Day after day he would present me with sweets or flowers, a surprise to make me smile… but the smile was short lived and it became annoying. It became a chore, a daily thing I had cross off in my mind.”
“I don’t fault him… it’s my fault… but he’s just… not the right person for me. And yesterday, I knew what you two were up to so I went on with it, to maybe end this nightmare for all three of us. No more strings attached, clean and crisp, and end it.”
“I want him to forget our past and move on. We’ve had our fun for the past three years… but it’s just time for us to move on…”
Kangin banged his head against the wall as he slid down the door outside. His hand clutched at his shirt as he wept uncontrollably, creasing the crisp shirt. Physically, his head was pounding from all the alcohol from last night. Spiritually, confused and wandering, lost in the fog.
Emotionally his heart screamed with pain at his lover’s words. All the things he’s done for him and Yesung had been annoyed at him. All the effort, the blood sweat and tears, everything he did for him… it was all annoying…
Kangin got up and pushed the door open that lead to the roof. Nothing else mattered anymore.
