I've done a little Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu at the school that one of my friends goes to as well as my current Wing Chun school and everybody has been very nice and super encouraging. Beginners like us make a lot of mistakes over and over and over and that hasn't bothered anyone. I've had to have things demonstrated three, four, five times before I understood what to do. I think you shouldn't worry about that. If you find a school where people are not nice then try someplace else. You should get a free trial class anywhere you go and you should use it to acquaint yourself with the instructors and students and make sure that you like the people. There are questions that are recommended to be asked that you can look up, but the first step would be choosing which martial art.

I totally recommend Wing Chun ;)
