In some ways, it was nice being there: one of the best ways to get him to calm down is to walk around with him - we don’t have a car, so we can’t drive him around until he falls asleep. For getting him to fall asleep, does going for the walk outside not work?

Walking outside works, and there's a nice courtyard outside our building -- but we live on the 10th floor, so it's not super convenient to go out if he only needs a bit of calming. But as the weather gets warmer, I expect we'll take him out for short walks more often.

I'm sure it was scary for the parents, it sounds like Alexander dealt with it really well. It's nice to hear that everyone is recovering nicely.
