The pictures *in* the book are even better. (Though my edition is from the 80s, and may be a little dated.)

I read most of it a few years back. I do not like books written about the American Upper Class because they all seem to either base "class" on how much $ they have [which really has all but replaced class in America], or they base it on what "Old Money" is doing, or what the "WASPs" are doing. In any of those cases none of those groups necessarily has much class. There is no nobility in America, and America is quickly losing its sense of even of what the word means.
