Saw The Ladykillers today and do you know what? It wasn't that bad. Poor reviews pretty much all round, but I actually quite liked it. Tom Hanks made me laugh with anything he said, and he hasn't been able to do that since Big. Not always a huge Coen Bros fan, I hated Intolerable Cruelty (the irony) with a passion and struggled with Big Lewbowski ( ( Read more... )

Hello! Thanks to Craig pointing out that it's now free to join LJ I shake off the cloak of anonymity and emerge into the LJ Sunshine.

Ahem. Anyway - I read an interesting article with one of the Coens saying how familiar he was with the Ealing Comedies due to family living in the UK for a long time. I got the impression he was annoyed/puzzled by the apparant outrage at their daring to adapt a supposed British classic.

Anyway it's Harry Potter for me next - I'm still reeling from The Day After Tomorrow. (And Clash of the Titans which I taped off Channel last week - they kept going on about the destruction of Argos, which was a mite peculiar.)

It's nice to have you on board at last! We should all meet up a lot more, me thinks.
Saw Potter, not a huge fan so I rated it so so. Craig and me are attending the Cambridge film festival which starts next week. 25 films in ten days, we're just crazy! Love it.
