hey, Rome may have fallen, but Latin is immortal!
and you were awesome in Brookie Fever (as I alluded to in my entry)
and don't worry about grades and gpa... if you are trying your best then that is all that matters, and if not, find what needs work and change it for this 9 wks... semester is all that counts and you still have the rest of this year and all of junior to bring things up (besides McClure gets so much easier once you realize that everything can be traced back to the Cave, Id, ego, and superego, or dominant discourse/ use of language)

so cheer up buddy! :hug::

The Cave a summary by Grace Garrett, scholar extraordinair
ok Plato's cave is basically an image of people trapped (in this case a cave). The people are shackled so that they can only face one way. On the wall of the cave are shadow images. Because this is the only thing that they see, it is reality to them. What they do not know is that the shadow images are actually from people behind them moving about by a fire and placing objects in front of this fire. Because the fire is behind them, the shadow images are also reflections of themselves (which brings in the idea of narcissism-also very important in McClure) The philosopher-king is someone who is able to escape the cave and who is at first blinded by reality (the sun) but once he/she realizes the truth, is obliged to venture back into the cave to save the others from their false realities

This metaphor can be used in Brave New World, The Crucible, The Matrix and just about everything else

hope that helps some! (if you haven't noticed... i loved that class!)
