top hat and tails

Ok, so sagely advise required- where can I find myself a nice (nearly) new tail coat (that fits) and also a top hat (that fits and) that doesn't cost, like, a million pounds? Preferably in Bristol but prepared to travel to find it. Anywhere good online that I could check out?

There's a few tailcoats on eBay at the moment, and a selection of top hats. Might be worth a look.

You could go to the shop on Cotham Hill whence I obtained mine.

Yeah, either Naff Clothing on Cotham Hill, or the eveningwear shop on the same road. Also keep an eye on other formal wear shops like Pronuptia - occasionally they will have chucking out sessions of things that are slightly too ratty to rent out.

i got mine at the indoor market in bath, there also used to be a shop near to it that did loadsa victorian gothy stuff (somewhere down near the saracen's head i think) - tho tis entirely possible that both of these have gone the way of the dodo (god i feel old). or for hats you could try the miserable ladies in st nick's (who were not amused last week when i tried on every fedora they had and then rejected them all) x
