I have had a few conflicts with people here in B.A. It's worse when you feel like an outsider to the culture. I am less confident of my position in any conflict because I am less sure of the rules. Not like in California or Oregon where I would feel like I know the rules/assumptions about how people are supposed to do things or be.
Also there's the language gap. Like I know the language but there are still things that are ambiguous, that I don't fully understand. x10 if someone is speaking with a major Porteño accent. The heavy Porteño accent is like a freaking other language.
But I am more confident of myself this time around. Like the conflict with the teacher about the test. Before I didn't know how far you could/couldn't push an issue like that. People here are much more deferential to teachers. But I didn't know exactly how much. Took a while to figure that out.
