All good things..

Don't feel bad. It was really a long time in coming, as can be seen in the exponential decay of the frequency of my posts..

Today, on this first of January, marks the end of danger as we know it.

Not that I have to defend myself of anything, but in case you are wondering, here are a few reasons for the closing.

Thank you Daniel.
I hope that you will post occasionally how you are doing.

Goodness, what a thing to say of me! Over the course of my LiveJournal lifespan, perhaps I've grown confident enough in myself to accept that compliment. Thank you.

People use LiveJournal for different purposes. When a given motivation for writing expires, so does the journal. LiveJournal is merely a tool, not a commitment. Passage is natural in that context.

I've always tried to make sure that whatever I write is appropriate for a public medium. If I ever feel the need to restrict something I've written, I reconsider whether it should even be in my journal, since it rather defeats my purpose in keeping it. Though perhaps my style makes this easier to do, since I seldom face that situation.

You're a wonderful writer; don't doubt that. Writing is part talent, and part practice. There have been many periods where I feel I've been slipping from the past as well.

All the best.

It's been a great privilege to read your journal for the very long time I have. Even though my LJ activity is far less frequent than it used to be -- more because my time is allocated differently nowadays than for lack of interest -- I always look forward to reading your journal when I wade back into these waters. I hope if your journal returns in some other form, you'll alert me. The many perils of keeping a public journal on the internet are all to familiar to me, but I'm glad you did, and that for these years we've had facing windows into each other's lives.

I'll still wonder what's happening in your life, and e-mail from you about same would be welcome at any time. And huzzah for forswearing Myspace; it's like LJ without the content.

I wish you safe travel into the distant future.
