I don't have time before I go offline, but I can give you a more thorough review Sunday. (Or maybe I'll post one for my own records and point you towards it.)

Let's just say that I saw my hair in the mirror and panicked, because the hair loss is noticeable, and I don't know whether to blame it on the Metformin, the Mirena, or my allergy shots.
(It started just after the shots did, so I'm attributing it to that, but the nurse insists it's unrelated. My boss votes for Metformin, because it happened to her sister. Except I was on Metformin for 6 months before any hair fell out at all. And Ortho-Lo made my hair fall out, so it's possible the Mirena is the culprit, but again, I'd been on the Mirena for several months before my hair started falling out, so everything keeps pointing to the allergy shots. I vote allergy shots because they'll be stopping Real Soon Now anyway.)

What about the horrendous cramps? Did your abnormal bleeding stop after you were on it for awhile? I am anywhere near your case, but I would like the spotting to stop.

Having done a bit a of research in this area due to the fact that HBC messed me up big time, I have some experiences to share. I opted for the non hormonal IUD paraguard. My periods are less fun now but not worse than the were before I was on the pill. As far as being low on progesterone I suggest looking into natural progesterone cream. It has been said to have better results than the more synthetic versions in birth control. I recommend checking out this website: www.johnleemd.com. I've gotten a lot of good information from his premenopause book and would like to look at the new Hormone Balance Made Simple. I plan on doing hormone testing soon and then likely trying the progesterone cream.

Good luck. :-)

My Dr didn't recommend paraguard, because I am allergic to some metals. Plus, since I am older and still haven't ruled out having children, she said, "You are going to have a rough enough time getting pregnant, let's not make it worse." :-/ I'll check out the progesterone cream. If that can actually stop the spotting, I might do nothing more.
