Sex, Sexual Harassment, and Power

I'm having this weird situation at school with a student (V) who is sending me inappropriate e-mail. I am find the situation mystifying, as I am the professor. Although, granted, V is only auditing my class. The first e-mail included a bunch of stuff on how much V was enjoying my class, as he likes my voice. Sounds to me like you are doing your part -- you've explained to him what behavior you consider appropriate and what behavior you consider inappropriate. Do follow up. If you end up dumping him from the class, the action reflects on him and not you. You are being the professional and not making power plays.

It's ironic for me to read your post today. My therapist made a point today in our session about the few emotions that are considered socially appropriate for men to express. Anger and desire are right up there at the top of the list. Maybe, just maybe, his interactions with you will show him there are other ways to interact with women?
