Either 193 or 200 something, depending on who you're asking and which "independent territories" you count (Coca Cola counts them all, apparently, since they claim over 200 countries stock their soda).

Edit:  D'oh, I am a little off on the official count, but I won't reveal the answer to not spoil your fun should you decide to do this ;-)

A more intriguing question might be how many times in the past decade [five years, whatever] have the number of countries changed, + and/or - . . .
