Seeing NO was quite sad, but a fantastic silver lining occurred---I found Solomon! For those who don't know, he's this sweet old man who sells dresses and such in the French Quarter. He's just genuine and nice. And he has these fantastic blue eyes--very striking in an African American. So, it was wonderful to see he made it through ok--I'm not sure ( Read more... )

When Freddy told me, I said this to him: "I know that I do not have the connections to NO that you do. And I know that I didn't know Solomon for nearly as long. But it's still comforting to me to know that he's still there."

And yeah, he lived in the lower 9th, according to Freddy.

He's not African American, is he? I mean, the dude has an accent. I just assumed he wasn't from 'round here. ;-)

I hope you guys had fun at our place. I got your note. I told you to make yourselves at home and I meant it so all that you did was ok. (we don't even have that bed anymore... we came back with a lot of furniture from Neil's mom. You wouldn't even recognize the place)
It was great to see you guys, even though we had to leave so soon.

We did have a lot of fun at your place. Thanks so much for letting us stay there. We had a cool idea to buy you guys a new showe curtain and liner as a token of our appreciation, but we ran out of time. So, now you know what cool idea we came up with:-)
