Cruel City, ep 14 and I Hear Your Voice eps 3-5

Stuff on my two favorite shows.

What a taut, brilliant episode. It should have been known as “Shi Hyun has an utter nervous breakdown and embraces the bad side." I can’t say I blame him - everyone lied to him and used him, he might as well stick with those he loves and wants to protect.

And speaking of protect - how badass was the scene with SH taking on Busan’s mobsters - walking into the devil’s lair for the second time. And I do think he started the war earlier in order to protect Soo Min (oh, the scene where Soo Min waits for him and he waits outside not going in - my heart!)

This drama came out of nowhere to own my heart.

It’s official, this drama is trying to kill me. Also, it scrambled my brain to such a degree that I started typing “I heart" instead of “I hear" in my tags.

It’s official, everyone should have a Soo Ha, to find bus seats for them and to tease…I honestly keep hoping the killer gets hit by a rockslide or run over by a truck (that would be ironic) and my two darlings could just do their usual thing and live their lives…The last contemporary noona romance I tried, Flower Boy Ramyun Shop, ended up not what I wanted- I think it was well-made but it just didn’t resonate with me (or I suppose Big could be the last and I really disliked that drama!) and I decided that this was likely it for me as far as the genre is concerned and maybe I got too old for it, but nope, nope, this has so proven me delightfully wrong.

Holy cliffhanger! Argh!!! Get to her quick, guardian angel, before the psycho stalker killer gets her! And then I went off to bed - I literally couldn't see by then.

Some pretty:

This drama sure knows what I like and gives it to me. How one sequence can be so shippy, emo and hilarious all at once, I have no idea, but EEEEEEE! And all of that AFTER he came to her rescue? My happy happy heart.(Also, how on earth did Hye Sung drag Soo Ha to bed? She is teeny and he is what - 6 feet? Heeee.)

LOL

This sequence gave me chills. I am going to end up with an ulcer because every time the killer is anywhere near either Soo Ha or Hye Sung, I start freaking out. I remember the killer actor as the sweet older brother of hero in Last Scandal of My Life - does not compute :)

All I could think about during this sequence was ‘lucky biatch.’ LOL. Hye Sung must have saved the country in a previous life, as the saying goes. Btw, it’s pretty clear by now that Lee Jong Suk is the male lead in terms of the narrative and plot and screentime (and only not clear if he is the romantic endgame simply because drama writers are insane - anyone remember when Marry Me Mary’s crazy writer wanted to kill off Jang Geun Seuk and have Moon Geun Young end up with Kim Jae Wook?!), so I am left wondering why on earth did Yoon Sang Hyun sign up to this? Don’t get me wrong - YSH is great in his role and I love him in general, but that is precisely it - why isn’t he headlining a drama or at least having a bigger secondary role in some other drama or similar?

He is fixing her door OMFG

The whole final sequence, from the killer baiting Soo Ha with harm to Hye Sung and Soo Ha losing it utterly and screaming that he will protect HS because he owes his life to her (and it takes a ton of cops to pull him off!) and Hye Sung realizing who Soo Ha is and that scene with her thinking at him that he can’t reveal his power - and OMFG she is saving him yet again and askdsfdkgfkhfkgnj!!!

All the skinship in ep 5 made me melt, but nothing got me like when she stops him from blowing up by putting her arm on his, or when she stops the cop from hitting him. He protects and saves her so much, but the thing is - she protects and saves him just as much. I cannot imagine anything more perfect. You know what really gets me? The look on his face any time she does something protective or caring - it’s as if he can’t believe someone would do that for him. His life was pretty freaking bleak. And of course, every time, he falls just a little bit more in love with her, without realizing it.

All the touching in this episode. Heeeee. Awesomeness. Also, she is in her late 20s (26, I think) and he is 18. I am going to hell. Hell. But I don’t care - I ship them and wish this show was on cable so we could have make outs.

This scene! When he sleeps on her couch and she fixes his finger while he feigns sleep and his little grin and just - nobody has ever cared or taken care of him since his father was murdered until her and just - I just cannot with these two. I can’t. Also, I literally screamed when it turned out they are going to be cohabiting. The last time I got so excited about roommate hijinks was in City Hunter!

Oh, the moment his heart breaks when he sees Hye Sung and Attny Cha together - oh God. (Did I mention how much I love that this is a rare kdrama where the hero falls first?)
