A/N : I wrote this thing right before NaNo 2006, because I wanted to write the story but I couldn't start yet so I decided to do a little sidestory. Heh. Turns out I like this one much better than what I wrote in NaNo last year. I'm re-plotting that whole thing. Heh.

But I liked this as I re-read it after finishing my project in class. lol. So, I do hope you like it too.

The pictures in the banner were found here : Jensen Ackles, Famke Jensen and the texture is found here : Raptured-lights.com under Resources.

My job is never fun. The only person who knows what I really do for a living is my dad and I haven't seen him for years. My mother thinks I'm in the same dead-end job as he was in since we moved here about 24 years ago. And no, you can not ask me about why me and my father had a falling out. It's private. I spend my day mostly writing reports and such, so much paper work in this job it's really strange that not more people have gone insane. And off course having a crush on your super hot and adorable partner who just happens to be 100% gay is just not helping.

"Hey, Veronika. How was your weekend?" My partner, Jaye Trask asked me and I know it's sad but I got a bit lost in his eyes for about a second before I realized that it was not a rhetorical question.

"It was the same. Nothing really happened. I stayed home and watched tv." I told him, as my eyes wandered over to the report in front of me and I just knew there was a speach coming from him. He has a very active social life.

"Come on, Ronnie. This is just getting sadder and sadder, you can't expect me just sit by and let you turn into an hermit." He told me, as he sat down at the desk opposite mine and he was looking at me with pity in his eyes.

"So, what if I want to stay home and relax all by my lonesome. What is so wrong with that?" I asked him, and he just looked at me with those damn eye. He can be so damn annoying at times, I should know because we've been partners for 5 years. He just rolled his eyes at me, and leaned back in his chair, almost to the point where I thought he would tip over and fall. It had happened before and it had been hilarious, but he didn't get hurt. It's always funny as long as it was happening to someone else.

"You know, that there will come a day when people will just tell you to get over it already and get a grip." He told me, and booted up his computer. He was the one with all the tech skills, I was not very fond of them. My favorite piece of technology? The tv. And the DVD player, before that VHS. Yeah, I used to be a party animal but that was years ago.

"That time has come and passed. People just don't give a damn anymore, Jaye." Is what I told him, right before my phone went nuts and demanded to be answerd. Such a bossy phone. "Yes?...Seriously, again?...We'll be there in thirty minutes or less." Jaye had that look in his beautiful eyes and when I hung up the phone he only arched an eyebrow and I knew what he was asking about.

"Yep, that was them. We're needed again, the same guy. I thought they were supposed to be taking care of him and teaching him their ways. Not letting him roam around the city free. They know there are only so many 'get out of jail free'-cards, right?" I told him, as we stood up at the same time (not intentionally it's just a thing we do and get a lot of jokes about) and I put on my blazer again. Felt like I had just taken it off, and it was real nasty weather outside but this morning I hadn't even thought about that because I was getting late for work.

This particular person has been nothing but trouble and I have no idea why this powerfull family would even let him under their protection in the first place. He’s not family and he doesn’t even seem to be linked to them in any way they know. They should just revoke their protection and throw him to the hunters. He was so new, he wouldn’t last a week.

“Ronnie, we’re here.” Jaye told me, which made me snap out of my thoughts and open my car door and into the cool aired night. What? You expect us to pay vampires a visit during the daytime? That wouldn’t be very effective. They mostly sleep during the day, or work perhaps overtime.

“Do not freak out on me if he comes to the door.” Jaye told me and I just rolled my eyes. Please, I’m so over that guy. I was like 20 at the time, and even on a diffrent continent. "I'm just saying that if it so happens that he'll come to the door, be professional and let me do the talking." He told me, as he rang the doorbell and we waited for someone to come to the door. There was always someone at home here, there must be like 20 to 30 people who live in this place.

"Yes, what can I do for you?" A butler-looking man asked, after he opened the door off course and he look kinda stuck up or at least to me. When did they get a butler, but I guess since they've got all that money they've got to learn to live up to the hype of rich people. All snobs who have no idea about the real world. But their not like that at all, they know more about the real world than anyone else.

"Hello. We're from the police, we got a complaint about one of the inhabitants of this house...again. We need to talk to him and the master of this house." Jaye told the butler-man, and he totally tilted his nose up and looked all huffy and annoyed before he opened the door more for us to get inside the house. We know where he's leading us too, we've been there at least two times before.

You know that ruse of mine saying I was over him that I mentioned earlier? It's not true, but you probably already knew that. If I even only see a glimpse of him, it all comes rushing back. I feel kinda silly still harboring a crush on a vampire and it's also a 5 year old crush but the relationship itself if you could call it that didn't even last six months. He's the son of the master of this house, and not in a vampire way but in an actually blood-linked way.

They were this upper class German family that were all turned by the same man, but then they killed their sire (which is actually a big no-no but that guy if I remember correctly was someone no one would miss so people looked the other way) and just toured all over the world. They were living in England at the time we were there to visit my father's sister and me being 20 and over-protected was drawn to Aidan Wolfe.

At the time I didn't know what my father did for a living and had no idea of that other world or "the real world" as my dad called it, but when I brought Aidan home for dinner once my dad was mighty shocked because apperently Aidan's dad was a big man in the vampire community. He said I had to cut all ties with Aidan or I'd regret it for the rest of my life, I could never go back to a normal, happy, care-free life but then I asked him if he really wanted me to be some airhead who knew nothing about the real threats out there.

The reason for this inner rant of mine is because who do you think I just saw come down a set of stairs to my right? Yeah, that's right. Him, and he just hasn't changed one bit. Still as gorgeous as ever before. He was probably a bit older than when he was made and off course add on the hundred of years he's been now alive but he still looks like a mischievous, young adult up to no good.
