Day 22: Madrid
On Saturday, I'd determined that I was sleeping till I could sleep no more. Being a tourist was exhausting, and nothing I could see in Madrid was *that* interesting to me. So, I slept. Eventually,
karenbynight and I got up, found food, and explored (read: shopped) for a while. Later, we went for tapas and churros y chocolate with
brian1789 and
tenacious_snail. Mmm, tasty.
Day 23: Merida and back to Las Minas
Sunday we visited El Rastro (look, more shopping) then headed out of Madrid to get back to RioTinto. We stopped at the 2/3 point in Merida to see the wonderful roman ruins.
The Coliseum at Merida
The Amphitheater at Merida

karenbynight Day 24: Back to the Research Bench!
Monday, it was back to work. Ah, work. Honestly, I remember very little about Monday. Perhaps someone else has a story to tell here?
Day 25: Planning is Hard
After a full days work (and a lot of handoff),
brian1789 and I headed into Sevilla, where we met up with
karenbynight and
tenacious_snail.
karenbynight and I headed off on our mediterranian adventure - to find the aquarium reputed to be in Malaga! We'd gotten a late start, and our hotel was a bit (um, 70km) farther then we'd thought, but with the good will of the front desk staff in staying open a bit late, we got to our hotel and crashed.
Day 26: World Aquarium Tour
We woke up a bit late, but after a dip in the lovely ocean and breakfast on the Balcon de Europa, we headed off to find the (quite lovely) aquarium.
Jellies!
I think this is my favorite picture so far - a ray.
Day 27: Itchy Madness
on Thursday, my excema had gone nuts. I itched. Eventually, took some benadryl and passed out. Mmn sleep. More work here, too.
Day 28: Cross the Puddle
Friday, I worked in the morning, then said goodbye to the lovely
karenbynight and took off towards London, where I was met by family with dinner and hugs and happy conversation. Yay!
