Thanks for saying it out loud... I find the advertising of diamonds aggravating at best and scary at worst.

Ya know, the idea of wanting someone to give me a gift that reeks of death and suffering and also is a waste of good money that could have gone to many other things... is somewhat aggravating for me. Ummm, why would I want someone to do that for me? Ugh. I know that different people put their "that's too much death and suffering for me to accept it" limits at different places, but no. No diamonds, please? Not for me, thanks.

I guess I also get aggravated because the ads tend to promote a notion that people are all so similar and want the same things, and that this is just How Things Are Done.
Icky, and leaves me out in the cold... as the person who wants steel mostly and wouldn't be troubled by dichroic glass on hemp string. Yay for shiny glass! Or snuggles and kisses or dinner cooked or dancing together, preferably.
