i don't really talk about current events or politics. so i thought i would considering how big of a deal katrina is. i really, really want you all to read this and comment because i really want to know what you all think of the situation

If the reason as to why they didn't get help was because of racism, that's just low. That is telling a friend in much need "I don't care about your problems, think more about mine." One of my friends asked me if it was because of racism as well. I basically told her no and I hope it stays that way because a person on my f-list has posted multiple times her sorrow and pain of what happened due to the fact that she once lived somewhere near New Orleans. It's very sad

i agree with you, everyone should watch the news. i don't think it is boring at all. and now i really have to know about wall the current problems because i'm taking that class. i also think it's really wrong that some people are like "they deserve it... they should have left." THEY HAD NOWHERE TO GO! yeah. did you hear about what barbera bush said??? "for some of them this is the best they've had it... before they didn't even have shelter," or something fucked up like that... of course people are covering up what barbera said, but she said it while laughing.

Well, I don't think it was racism but there's this little thought in my head that's been bugging me. Maybe it IS racism. It's a possibility. We can't say for sure that the American government didn't help because the city is full of African-Americans. Though I agree that Kanye West went too far

that isn't harsh at all. i wonder if people didn't donate money and stuff... could the gvt. handle all this? i also think a reason as to why the gvt. re-acted so slowly is because bush is so busy with the iraq war... ugh all bushs' should just die.

i don't think i'd say crash was unrealistic only because a lot of the stuff that happened in the movie is so true in la..or at least where I live X_X there are so many racist people here

(i never even thought about this once until it was brought up in my history class) but Bush doesn't know what the rest of the united states goes through, bush was never poor in his life. how can he understand our problems and our needs? his grandfather was part of the house of representatives (of some sort) and his father was the president. W. and is wtf mate. (sorry.. haha)

it was difficult for me to watch the news and see what happened to New Orleans, to hear about the astrodome and superdome, and not be able to feel my heart ache. people losing their family, seperating from their family, the lack of food and water, the heat, i swear to god- shit up the wall, and young girls being raped at night. (off the top of my head, there is not sequence to this..)

i really do not want to say anymore... though i feel i can go on. i find it impossible for me to put everything into words when it comes to the hurricane.

i never really got into current events/political issues until..my senior year of highschool when i took american government. how sad. but that's really good that you're taking an interest in it now.

as much as i am interested in current events, i haven't really been keeping up to date with katrina so reading all of the above comments is news to me. i mean wtf is up with the canadian rescue team arriving before us?! that's just completely shameful.. and bush.. dear lord, i won't start with him. xP

seriously, our world is just falling apart.. i mean, we've got these horrible hurricanes happening, the war in iraq, that super-volcano under yellowstone park, the glaciers melting, global-warming, etc..you name it.
