Actually I don't have much to say. It was pretty predicatable. The only surprise was Eddie Murphy not winning Best Supporting Actor for Dreamgirls (Alan Arkin won for Little Miss Sunshine). I found the show to be fairly boring. My mom got a nice treat when Robert Downey Jr presented an award, since she has a crush on him. I liked the shadow

Hee!
Well, The Departed was damn good. But very violent! I had to hide my face a couple of times. Still, yeah, it was good.
We only saw the bit of the Oscars where three comic-type actors sang a song about not ever getting an Oscar, and they carried that off rather well in a kitschy sort of way. Missed the rest.

We watched The Departed in this miniscule theatre filled with two seater couches so I could hide against Steve's shoulder occasionally! But it's a well-directed movie. And you get to see President Bartlet splat on the sidewalk *g* I even tolerated the presence of Matt Damon, since he was the bad boy!
It's worth seeing, just to hear Mark Wahlberg say all the things you'd love to say if you had no manners and no inhibitions!

I didn't see any of the nominated films, and hadn't been paying attention to who was up for awards.
I am stunned by the Forest Whitaker win, though. Critics were falling over themselves when he was on The Shield, but I didn't think I'd ever seen a worse, more unintelligible performance in a long time. He must have put all the stops back in the bottle to pull off a win for acting. ;)
I had to look up Jennifer Hudson. I'd never heard the name before. Holy cow! A win for a first time ever acting role! She must be absolutely obliterated with shock and joy. I'd love to have been there to see that reaction. (IRL, not an acceptance speech.)
"Hi, mom? I just won an Academy Award. No, no, not for singing. Acting. I'm an Academy Award winning ACTOR now."
