A former coworker made a note on Facebook about the bookstore because we are closing tomorrow. I started to write a response, but it turned into an essay and so I’m posting it here

I had never thought about how lucky I was leaving before the liquidation and before the closing, but now you've got me thinking about it and I completely empathize with you... I can't even imagine the amount of stupid customers that you've had, and have people pretend to care... that is probably the worst. I wouldn't be able to stand that. It makes me think about guests that would ask me whether the smell of gasoline all day bothered me, or who joked about how much I drank when I came home from work. No. Don't pretend that you can fucking relate with me. Don't pretend to care when you clearly don't. I'm really sorry that the liquidation pushed the happier memories out of the way

(Sidenote: liquidation is fucking hell. Going through it with KB toys was a nightmare. "How much is 50% of $19.95" "...really?")
Danni, I had SO much fun with you at that bookstore. I don't think that really needs to be said, but I want to say it anyway. Half the time, you made it possible for me to stay sane there.
I was fortunate enough to meet friends through work that I could spend Thanksgiving with, stay up all night reading Breaking Dawn after we did the release party...
I guess we have to forget about the dictionary lady, Poison, and the "Do you have a borders reward card?" retorts. Just remember the screaming at noone once the gate was down, the joy of payday when we got to make a small dent in our pile of holds (which was always there way longer than it was supposed to be), and using the kiosk walkie talkies for communication far from professional =)
We all get A +++++ for not actually punching people! It has been hell and it's been hard remembering the fun of opening new books and release parties. Glad that sam reminded us. :-)
