But wow, that proposal took me a minute to parse. It was hard to shake the idea you were going to use the gasoline (conveniently in reach) on the spider directly. It gave the whole post a rather sinister undercurrent, like something an alien might say in a sci-fi pulp novel:
"If you agree to renounce your claim to light-travel technology, we will transport you unharmed to a planet of your choosing within reach of the imminently exploding sun."
If you meet with success and the spider delivers itself, do keep in mind that this interpretation is completely legitimate given the natural ambiguity of certain grammatical structures.
