What do I love about Daniel/Vala?
Their friendship.
Let's face it: they didn't start out as friends. In fact, they didn't really even like each other, though I'm sure there was mutual physical attraction. But the more they came to know one another, the more they came to rely on and trust one another.
Neither trusts easily, having both been betrayed and hurt in their respective pasts. Despite this lack of trust, Daniel and Vala worked very well together to save the Prometheus after it was attacked. They're complete opposites of one another, and yet they are exactly alike.
Whether you pair Daniel and Vala romantically our not, you have to appreciate how each has let the other get a little under his or her skin.
(And yes, I'm still without power at my house. *sigh*)
