Raining tires???

So last night I was driving from Hoboken back to my sister's place in Princeton. It was rainy and cold and pretty much crappy out. All was going pretty well down the turnpike and starting out on Rt 1 South. But as I was driving down rt 1 I noticed something odd. I was in the left lane and I saw a tire shoot up from the northbound side up over
