In a group walking to the bar last night, a woman was talking about corsets

Though, to be fair, when they switched to steel struts, they still called them whalebone. And the plastic ones of today are still referred to as boning.

to be obnoxious...whalebone wasn't technically a whale's bones, it was the baleen, or the teeth-like stuff on a whales jaw for filtering sea water.
