Quote of the Day:
D: Hey, wanna do something?
W: You just want to do something with me because you're bored because your server is down.
D: ...Wanna do something anyway?
So a couple weeks back I spent an entire week's worth of vacation to play Diablo III because OMG I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS GAME FOR A DECADE.
So this game is so fun. SO much fun. Except for, of course, the whole servers choking on themselves thing. That is balls, and as balls as you'd expect. It is really annoying to have the boys watching stuff on Hulu and going "WHY IS MY SINGLE PLAYER GAME LAGGING OH RIGHT"
On the other hand SO.MUCH.FUN. And I could go on about things I love, like the lore books, and Magdha's design, and the cinematics. Oh! The cinematics! I could even ramble about things I didn't like, like weaksauce (by story standards) Act 1 boss or how Act III felt full of filler. And snow.
But really, my favorite thing about the game was being able to play as a female character in any class and have it matter that I'm female. From actually changing the pencilled mini-cinematics in the intro to properly reflect your gender, to having the townsfolk correctly refer to you as "she." To even stuff like having one companion feel like she's your sister, to having another hit on you. It was great. I really didn't know what to expect, and games have given me more than enough reason to fear that they'd do it half assed. But they didn't.
Brava Blizzard, brava.
