Because my poor laptop caught it. It has now been wiped clean by University Tech Services, although they didn't save my links which I asked them to do *sigh*. But it was a free service and you get what you pay for

ok, i'm just betting you haven't updated much of anything on that computer if you're still using software that /could/ have been updated in the last three years but /wasn't/ - tsk tsk tsk, oh dear me, i thought we'd taught you better than that...
and please don't blame me for this - i simply can't help thinking about your laptop in it's *ahem* diseased state without thinking back to that lovely old internet meme "Centipedes?! In my...?", well, you get the idea... don't google it. i'm serious. like, 'cause, the Encyclopedia Dramatica entry? nightmare-inducing. don't look!
oh THAT! oh yeah, that's true... even i haven't braved the shift to MSO'07 and its ribbon yet. I got pleasantly distracted by OpenOffice.org 3 for free instead. But if you're getting it for free from the university, go for it!

I think the sheer panic of having to have the 'puter reformatted just did me in. I've managed to save the music by getting around Itunes stupidity (I was able to transfer the music from the Ipod to Itunes, take that stupid Apple corp!!!!)
So I'm slowly rebuilding the links and now I'll make sure to save them all on the flash drive (thanks for the tip).
