I used to think that it'd would be a not-so-good idea for people who are very deep with their faith to marry outside of their own faith. But I don't know, maybe that's not always true. I know, on the one hand, they wouldn't share the same beliefs. But- on the other hand... then the two people would challenge each other to learn about what the ( Read more... )

Hey Chica,
Thought I'd share with you the discussion my mom and I had about love.

She knew she was really in love with my dad when:
1. It's no longer about yourself...and the same for him
2. Trust...almost like faith...you know that he'll never stop loving you.
3. Most importantly, same faith, because it is that faith that binds.

But what does that have to do with anything, well, dear...I donno. I'm not sure what I think, but I do know that marriages between couples of different denominations are VERY difficult to manage because you don't have a common set...but at the same time you do. so, judge it as you will. I'll send you my paper on the Song of Songs when I'm done.

I personally think that all of those faith issues should be resolved before you get married. Marriage is a sacred devotion to each other and God, and you can't give everything to God, as a couple, unless you agree on how to do that. If you can't agree on what pleases God or how God wants you to live, then you can't glorify Him truly, the way He deserves, and that would soil the sanctity of the union. You need to like-minded in faith to be able to give yourself completely to God in unity with your partner. If you feel that God wants you to marry someone that's not of your faith, then you should hammer out those beliefs and details first before getting into the marriage. I strongly believe that two people can't give God everything they are if they disagree on how to do it.
