Today, I was walking down Victoria street, and a man and a woman were having an argument

There isn't much more you could have done. Calling the police is always a possibility, but the fact that you stood up for someone is already a hell of a lot more than most people would have done, and that is amazing.

These kinda guys tend not to think about what they're doing as wrong. I suspect simply by shaking up the situation and making him think about it you've done an awful lot.
