I know I promised a happier post this time, but the news stands for no one. Plus, being the political junkie I am, I just can't resist.

Read a story today about a man who slashed the throat of his taxi driver because the driver is a Muslim. This is obviously a little more than disturbing.

I never like it when people use inflammatory labels. It's not at ground zero (which is a bad term for it anyway; I agree with Bill Mahr, "ground zero" should be reserved for nuclear blasts, not least because we'd do well to remember that as bad as 9/11 was, it could have been far worse), it's not a mosque.

And I'm with ya. I'm not a fan of religious institutions, but they're protected by the first amendment, and I'm a very big fan of that.
