Too tired to write anything truly mind-blowing, but I leanred some really interesting stuff at an herbal workshop tonight about treating asthma. These workshops are only $10, but often teach me more than an hour w/ my naturopath, which runs $65. I have now learned that there are categories of herbs; diaphoretics 'increase the ability to perspire' ( Read more... )

that sounds like what I've learned about my migraines. My triggers don't alwayz cause a migraine each time they happen. It's like they ahve migraine points or something. So lack of sleep is 5 points bright lights is 2 points etc. and migraines only happen when you get up to 9 points or something. I think it makes sense for a similar thing for just getting sick. Like if you're stressed out, you get sick more easily. So if you ate un healthily that's 5 sick points, and if you breathed really polluted air or something that's some more sick points etc .. The food allergy thing also works with migraines. They did a little mini study and like 60% of people who identified food alergens and eliminated them saw a great reduction in # of migrianes ...

How are your migraines doing? are they any better lately? Given how much I study this stuff, I'm always curious to hear what works for different people & what they find helps them out. The thing that amazes me about herbs etc. is that there is no magic cure, no one size fits all. Each person is different and responds in unique ways to different treatments.

they aren't as sevear, but they're still interfearing with my life. I'm taking melatonin now to help me sleep (I guess it's natural b/c it's something the body produces on it's own) evidently theres a combination of feaverfew, B2 and magnisum that's supposed to help people with their migraines, but I havn't been able to find it in any stores yet. Last place to check is the co-op, but their suplimits selection is pretty small, so I'm not holding my breath. Of course I'm also taking unnatural drugs, but whatever works, I'll take it.

I have discoverd though, that chewing on cloves is a natural anisthetic for tooth pain. Of course it's not a cure- I still need to have people with drills etc go into my mouth and take my wisdom teeth out >< but the cloves do help manage the pain until that can happen ...

Well...we carry the combo you mentioned right at the store I work at, & lucky for you its also a mail order business, so if you ever want it, just order it online here:

I could've sworn we had a formula with feverfew, magnesium & is it niacin? I'll have to check at the store when I work on friday...I have another friend who's had migraines so bad she's out of work half the time. NOT GOOD!

Glad the cloves help & yeah, wisdom teeth are a contributing factor to pain sometimes. Flossing regularly has been shown to reduce sinus infections, so it makes sense that wisdom teeth could cause head pain.

Melatonin is great stuff...feel better!
