It's not unethical at all. The funds are still going to the same reason you would want them to in your state. You are just sending the funds where you feel it will do the most good.
I suppose the part that I thought might be unethical is the fact that people who will not be represented by the person campaigning are supporting this candidate. I guess that my concern is that it might distort the candidate's ability to represent his constituency with integrity. I wonder if a parallel situation might be China giving money to a U.S. Presidential campaign so that China's interests get represented. So, if the monetary donations from outsiders are sufficiently large, whose interests is the candidate really representing?
On the other hand, given the current state of our country's politics, I feel my small donation doesn't really have a loud voice in contrast to the deluge of money that special interests can give.
Doesn't seen like there's anything wrong with it. But I'm not sure how I'd feel about inter-country financing (always like to use extreme-case examples).
