Yeah, scam. It seems to me there are a lot more scammers in my neighborhood lately- and they always get my money, because there is always some tiny chance that their tragic, heartrending story really is true, and I just can't summon up the necessary hard-heartedness to kick them in the ass.

I've decided that the right thing to do is take their pictures with my cell camera, and make a sort of web gallery of (probable) Pgh scammers. There can't be more than a dozen or two in town, right?

The "I need it now" thing may be legit, lotsa people/groups do this because they know that the second they walk away, the "donor" will forget about them. Cash, though? Come on, so transparent.

Definitely sounds like a scam.

Any real charitable organization, whether they want cash or not, always have to have an id number from the government ready to show or give you a place you can find so you can make sure they are legit.

Even the kiddies whom come around selling for the police activity league around here have a copy on them for people whom ask.

I used to feel guilty about not giving in those instances just "in case" they were legit, but found out they almost always weren't and were taking money from those that were.
