ok so why exactly do dogs always have really long "official" names but their owners simply refer to them as Fluffy??

that's mostly show dogs, in the same vain as race horses... i was watching the eukanuba (sp?) show for a bit tonight (the terrier portion, of course) and all their names were 'Champion Starlight In the Summer' (champion because they have to be an akc camp to be in the show)... i just gave him a first and middle name. Tanis Half-Elven (dragonlance character) Fistandantilus (another dragonlance character) Toney (my lovely lovely man's last name). ox.
