There's almost nothing authentic about the Monkees, except from Michael Nesmith. I say that as a serious fan in the early years, and as a friend of Peter Thorkelson's sister.
That Statler Brothers recording takes me back. That was one of the first 45s I owned, passed down from my sisters. I can see and hear the warped disc as it goes around.
