Guitar Question

May 10, 2005 15:29

I wanted to ask some advice from guitar playing people. I need to get a pickup for my acoustic guitar (as detailed by immortalradical, the band had a practice last Friday. I was using Boydi's guitar, which was not good, and I really don't want to use it for gigging).

This is something I know nothing about, so can anyone recommend anything?

The lovely l'il Taylor Big Baby, this, yes?

Here's the first, most important question: what sort of budget you looking at? Because there's really all sorts to match everything. Second of all: what kind of setting we talking? One of the guitarists in a full band, needing to cut through a little, or something that sounds a little more 'natural'?

All the sound clips I've heard are great, reviews quite glowing, and pretty much all the builders who've tried the systems really, really like them. Upside: they don't need need a preamp, which pretty much every single other pickup does require, and you can plug straight into the mixer/PA or an amp (PA = better, in every case). It superglues to the bridge plate (bit under the bridge), doesn't need to go under the saddle, which ( ... )

It is indeed.

Thanks for all the advice but to be honest, at this point I think I'm looking for something removeable. I don't have the tools or really the inclination to start putting holes in my guitar right now, and I'd quite like to have something ready for the gig next Friday. :) A bit of research suggests that either the Dean Markley or the Fishman Neo-D would be the best low-cost options.
