Have just had a letter from our estate agent informing us that the landlord wishes to stop renting the house after our lease expires at the end of July, which is annoying since neither of us really want the hassle of moving at the moment

What kind of an attitude is that? The proper first step is to kill the landlord and then conduct an elaborate farce in which you hide his body from his elderly aunts. Then you need to copy out the following letter in his handwriting:

I leave all my stuff to Dan and Eileen,
